About Me

Hi! I'm Hannah, a current senior at UW- Eau Claire studying Political Science Legal Studies, a Ronald E. McNair Scholar, and a member of the national political science honor society Pi Sigma Alpha.

    My Research Goals

I am a student researcher with the Menard Center for Constitutional Studies at UW- Eau Claire. My previous research includes analyzing Supreme Court cases surrounding fighting words and incitement. I presented my project The Past, Present, and Future of the First Amendment and Hate Speech: An Analysis of the Fighting Words Doctrine and Incitement at CERCA 2022. This year, I am researching how conspiracy theories spread online with my project The Rise of QAnon: From a Chatroom Board to an International Movement. My research has been funded by grants from the Menard Center for Constitutional Studies and the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP) at UW- Eau Claire.

I plan on going to graduate school to earn my Ph.D. in either Political Science or Communication with a research emphasis in Political Communication. My main research interest is to understand how people develop their political opinions online and how that impacts political behavior and political violence, specifically with the far-right on social media.
